Cambridgeshire Leader Activity and Permit (C.L.A.P) – 23/24 March 2024

(Updated 1 March 2024)

Cambridgeshire Leaders Activity and Permit days (C.L.A.P) – POSTPONED

Unfortunately, this event has had to be postponed due to flooding  of the site which will be out of use for the whole of March 2024. The revised date will be advised, once known.

Where and when?

  • Saturday and/or Sunday 23/24 March 2024
  • Copley Campsite, St Ives.
  • 9:00am- 4:30pm

Who is the event for?

The weekend is being pitched at adult volunteers within Group and District Section teams. This includes:

  • Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers Section Team Leaders and Team members (Assistant Leaders) in Groups and Districts
  • Other Team Leaders/Team members in supporting roles with Groups, District and County
  • Lead Volunteers and Leadership Team members

What’s the event about ?

  • Have you have ever had questions about Activities, Permits or ANYTHING within Cambridgeshire Scouting? The County Team are coming together for one weekend 23rd and 24th March at Copley Scout Centre in St Ives so you can ask any questions and get information about anything we or you can think of.
  • All the County Advisors together in one place, so if you are interested in Hillwalking permits, Water permits, Shooting permits, Nights Away Permits, Axes and Saws or just want information on running activities such as map reading or pyrography, we will have someone there to talk to about it and hopefully give you the info you need.
  • As we have so many wonderful volunteers across Cambridgeshire and we haven’t got enough space for you all we will be booking you in on a first come first served basis. Some County Specialists will only be able to make one day but the rest of the Team will be there to try and answer your questions if they aren’t.

Do we have to stay the whole weekend?

  • No. You can book for either day. See the Frequently Asked Questions below

Information bases/activities and come and try the activities

If you have questions about the “Transformation”, want to know how you can get your Rafting Permit, how to volunteer on events run by County, questions about your personal Training, Top Awards or how D of E fits in with Scouting please book on and come along.

The BEST question so far – Being Youth led, one of our Young People has requested that we try “Flaming Chainsaw Juggling” – Is that possible?

You can have a go at some activities, such as Archery, Air Rifles, Backwoods cooking (with recipes to take away) and Tomahawks and a few more depending on the weather. We will even have someone there with Tents to show the different styles available and help you in putting them up or choosing what’s needed.

We hope you will join us for part of the weekend, without your Squirrels, Beavers etc, to suit your diary and learn more about the practical side of scouting, have some fun and make some new friends etc.

You are welcome to bring your own children along if that enables you to attend. They do, however, remain your responsibility through the day. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide activities for the children, or anyone to look after them and they cannot stay overnight.

Photography/Videography

  • Organisers will be taking photographs, video and sound recordings for appropriate scouting use (current and future), no names will be used. Anyone not wishing any images to be used in this way must make this known to the organising team.

Bookings

  • All bookings are on a “first come, first served” basis, open to all adults registered on Compass as a volunteer within any Scout Group or District within Cambridgeshire Scouting.
  • Adults can attend one or both days. Each booking is for an individual adult.

  • This event is designed for adults. If you need to bring your own children along with you they will be your responsibility.
