Expert Guidance: Learn from qualified Mountain Leaders with years of hillwalking experience. Our experts will teach you the fundamentals, including navigation, safety, outdoor survival, and group management skills.

Safety First: Our training emphasises safety at all times. You’ll gain vital knowledge about handling emergencies and minimizing risks.

Gear Selection: Learn how to choose the right gear and equipment to ensure your comfort and safety during your hillwalking adventures.

Confidence Building: Gain the confidence to explore new terrains and take on more challenging hillwalking routes.

Training Programs for All Levels: Whether you’re a complete novice or an experienced hiker, our Hillwalking Training Programme offers a variety of options to match your level of experience.

Your Hillwalking Journey Starts Here.

Schedule:

  • Friday evening – travel to the accommodation, Allocate walking groups for the weekend.
  • Saturday – full day in the hills. Permit training will cover as much navigation, leadership, and general practical subject matter as is possible.
  • Saturday evening – either theory training or night navigation.
  • Sunday – morning to mid-afternoon – shorter day in the hills.
  • Sunday afternoon – clean the accommodation ready for handover & return to Cambridgeshire.

Cost

£70 for the weekend. This covers transport, accommodation and all meals from Saturday breakfast to Sunday lunch.

Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
