Think big. Dream wild. Act together

In Summer 2023, more than 40,000 Scouts from all over the world will gather in Korea for the 25 World Scout Jamboree. The World Scout Jamboree (WSJ) is a World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) event, it happens every four years, each time hosted by a different country. We’re so proud that thousands of UK young people aged 14 to 17 and their leaders will travel to South Korea and we’ll call ourselves the UK Contingent;  Read more here.

Who is attending from Cambridgeshire?

During 2021 a process was run across Cambridgeshire, to select 45 young people and 5 leaders, to join two Units of the UK Contingent. “Unit 18” is comprised of 36 young people and 4 leaders from Cambridgeshire. “Unit 26” is a composite unit, with 9 young people and 1 leader from Cambridgeshire, combined with young people and leaders from across Norfolk.

The young people in Unit 18 have chosen the ‘Al-Camb-ists!’ as their Unit name, whilst those in Unit 26 selected ‘Camfolk Tigers’, recognising the combination of Scouting in CAMbridgeshire and NorFOLK.
To support the Jamboree, the International Service Team (IST) are formed from adult volunteers from across the world, including 18 from Cambridgeshire, all working together in teams to ensure the Jamboree is a success! They fill a vital role in motivating and supporting young people as well as providing services, programme and facilities.

Getting to know your unit is a large part of the Jamboree, because you spend a lot of time with them across the whole experience. Both Unit 18 and Unit 26 have hosted variety of training camps and social events, with many more on the agenda. Another key part of the Jamboree journey is fundraising – with each participant challenged to raise their fee, leading to lots of creative events.
Many strong friendships have been made and we have all created many memories already.
