Youth Involvement

Cambridgeshire Scouts’ Youth Leads are our future.

Ana, James and Sophie began sharing the role of County Youth Lead from mid-2024. Their objectives for 2025 include:

  • representing  the County (along with other County Team members) at The Scouts next national conference;  Summit 25 (in Birmingham) 25/26 Jnauary 2025. This will start to shape Scouting’s future vision and strategy through to 2028
  • planning and holding a County level Scout Network event during 2025.
  • encouraging other members aged 18-24 to become Youth Leads in their own Districts

The aim is to provide a strong Youth Leadership team to:

  • continue the growth of Youth-Shaped scouting,
  • facilitate young people working in partnership with volunteers in Scouting, allowing young people to speak up, be heard, and work towards something they are passionate about, and
  • advocate the “You shape” award

It is part of the Skills for Life strategy.

The Youth Leadership team will develop and grow through its members’ skills and knowledge enabling it to gain practical youth leadership skills, empower its peers and our adult volunteers. It is envisaged the team it will hold at least bi-yearly meetings with District Youth Leadership teams to share learning and develop a strong scouting family network.

Youth involvement builds on the excellent work of Cambridgeshire’s Young Leaders and provides a progression opportunity for them alongside Scout Network or adult leadership.
