Scouts
Scouts are boys and girls aged between 10½ – 14 years.
A Scout Troop normally meets term time only for about 1½ – 2 hours, but with additional activities during weekend or week long events and camps. It may be that some camps even take them abroad.
The Troop is divided into small teams known as Patrols, each one having a Patrol Leader and an Assistant Patrol Leader. The Patrols are encouraged to work as a team, and to help plan and run some of the meetings and events. These range from practical scouting skills to community projects and first aid to caving. Badges can be gained and life skills developed, including how to lead but also how to cope when things don’t quite go to plan.
Around the age of 14 Scouts have gained enough skills and experience to move up to Explorer Scouts, and can opt to be come a Young Leader.
