Leaders’ Activity Permits & Information days 4th & 5th October 2025

What’s happening? 

This is great opportunity for leaders to come along and have some fun trying out a taster sessions in activities, find out what they need to do to to gain an activity permit to help add value to your own C.V. and, hopefully, your Section programme as well. More details are below, along with some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) We will have County Assessors available to cover a range of “activities” that require permits.

When?  Saturday 4th & Sunday 5th October 2025

Where? Paxton Lakes Sailing Club, Haul Road, Lt Paxton PE19 6EY

Times:   10am – 4pm.

Who can come along?

This taster & information day is for ” Leaders” (Team Leaders, Team Members and Lead Volunteers).

It will be great opportunity to try out the activities on offer and find out from the various County Assessors on hand what you need to do to gain an activity permit.

Can I bring my own children?   Please see FAQ below.

Try a taster session in: archery, canoeing, dinghy sailing, powerboating, rafting, stand up paddleboards and possibly kayaking.

Also attending will be the County’s archaeology Team

Do I need to pre-book?  

  • Please use the booking link  below (to Eventbrite) to advise which day, morning, afternoon or both, you plan to attend.
  • This will help our planning & staffing, particularly for the taster sessions

Leaders’ Activity, Permits and Information Day Risk Assessments (RAs)

The latest versions will be uploaded here, so they can be viewed by clicking the activity name below (when shown in blue). Where activity names are in black type, the RAs are still being drafted/collated. Following review by the base leaders, which is underway, it is possible some adjustments may be needed.  Final versions of the RAs (with any changes) will be uploaded nearer the event.

FAQs

Can I bring my own children?

Yes – You MUST, however, for safety reasons bring another adult with you to supervise any accompanying children as we will be unable to take responsibility for them. Whilst the taster sessions are principally for adults, subject to time and availability, it may be possibly for some children to have a try as well. Bouncy aids must be worn.

What do I need to bring with me?

  • Bring suitable clothing and footwear for the weather on the day.
  • Bring a complete change of clothes (including footwear) and a towel if you/your child want to try a water-based activity (eg canoeing, rafting)
  • Bring a packed lunch if staying on site for the day or over the lunch period. If family members are coming with you then you are welcome to bring a picnic.

Are refreshments provided?

  • Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available for leaders and staff.
  • Bring a packed lunch if staying on site for the day or over the lunch period. If family members are coming with you then you are welcome to bring a picnic

Will activities stop for lunch?

  • It’s likely that all activities will stop for lunch to give the County team a well-earned break
  • Timing of lunch-breaks have still to be confirmed.
