Bookings are now open for: Conference: Keeping our Scout teams thriving: 9 May 2026
Updated 21 January 2026

Imagine if every section in your district had enough confident, capable, and qualified adults to run brilliant Nights Away experiences—without bottlenecks, long waiting lists, or over‑stretched Permit Holders.

Interested? Then this is for you. At our Districts’ requests, the County Learning team plans to run a half day Module 25 Assessing Learning course on Saturday 31 January 2025, as mentioned in the December 2025 County News and the extra 2 hours learning for prospective Nights Away Assessors. More details are below:

Who is this training for?

It is for “leaders” who want to complete the learning as part of the initial steps towards obtaining an Accreditation to become a:

  • a Nights Away Assessor, or
  • an Activity Assessor, or
  • a Learning Assessor

The course is part of a programme being run by the County’s Volunteering Development team to support Districts to secure additional assessors that will facilitate the award of “assessor accreditations”.

In order to obtain a Nights Away,  Adventurous Activity or Learning Assessor accreditation learners have to undertake a 4 stage process:

  • Step 1: Attend Module 25 training course
  • Step 2: Complete topic specific additional training
  • Step 3: Undertake validation steps
  • Step 4: Attend a validation meeting/session with a learning assessor

To support Districts to secure additional assessors, the County Volunteering Development team will be running a programme in early 2026 that will facilitate the award of assessor accreditations.

Please ensure you have Group Lead Volunteer and District Lead Volunteer approval before registering for this course – you will be asked to confirm this when undertaking the booking process.
