The RDC Foundation was set up in 2019 in the name of Richard Crabtree, a Cambridgeshire Scouter who passed away in 2015.
It awards grants to support young people under the age of 21 in recreational and leisure activities so as to develop their mental, physical and moral capabilities so that they grow to full maturity as individuals and members of society. The grants available are:
- Up to £1000 grants to individuals undertaking significant life changing adventurous activities that they themselves have been heavily involved in planning.
- Secondly, they award up to £1000 grants to charities for the purchase of relevant equipment to engage young people in adventurous activities.
The RDC Foundation is also proud to:
- have direct agreements with several leading equipment providers that enable RDC to purchase equipment at up to 50% off retail prices, enabling our funds to go much further, and
- have developed relationships with some outdoor equipment manufacturers and are increasingly convincing them to offer exclusive discounts to those within the groups they support.
As a side benefit of the equipment grants they are able to give they have developed relationships with some outdoor equipment manufacturers and are increasingly convincing them to offer exclusive discounts to those within the groups they support.
