The following fantastic opportunity has been received from the National Scout & Guide Symphony Orchestra and Concert Band’s co-ordinator.
“Applications for the 2026 summer course of the NSGSO and NSGCB are now open.
Who can apply?
- Scouts, Explorers, Young Leaders and Network members aged 12-25 by 31 August 2026
- Applicants need to above Grade 4 on their first instrument
- For anyone wishing to use this course for their DofE, KSA or QGA residential then this year must be the first time that they have attended.
Venue: Old Swinford Hospital School, Heath Lane. Stourbridge, DY8 1QX.
Course dates: Sunday 26th July – Sunday 2nd August 2026
Course – other information: The course is residential and will culminate with two concerts in the Birmingham area.
Closing date for applications: 9am, Sunday 30 November 2025

The course is hosted by Birmingham Scout County in conjunction with Girlguiding Birmingham but is open to applicants from across the UK who meet the selection criteria.
Applicants will hear by mid December 2025 if their application has been successful or not.
