Selection process for new Trustees – 2025 AGM
To comply with The Scout Association’s Policy, Organisation and Rules 5.3.1.4, the County’s Trustee Board has agreed that for the June 2025 AGM, there will be up to ten Trustees, three to be selected by a vote to be held before the AGM. The role of a Trustee is focussed entirely on governance matters.
Current Trustee Board consists of:
- Trustees appointed for 3 years (at 2024 AGM): Chair, Treasurer and 3 x Trustees
- Trustees appointed for 1 years (at 2024 AGM): 1 x Trustee
- Ex-Officio Trustees: County Lead Volunteer and 1 x Youth Lead
2025 vacancies:
- There are up to three Trustee vacancies this year
- These vacancies are being advertised externally (via Reach Volunteering, Volunteering Cambs! and the County’s public Facebook page) and to all members of Cambridgeshire Scouting.
Frequency of Trustee Board meetings: every two months plus the Annual General Meeting. Meetings (up to 2 hours) are usually held in person at County Office (St Ives) with the option to join online.
Nominations and Self-nominations for these vacancies are welcome from all. Existing membership of scouting is not a pre-requisite. Experience of governance through work or within the external charity sector, is likely to be an advantage. Appropriate learning and support will be provided.
These “volunteer” appointments are for a three-year term although Trustees may stand down during that period if they so wish.
Eligibility to be a Charity Trustee is essential.
