Squirrels Activity Days (SquAD) – 2026
Copley will again be hosting SquAD in 2026.

When? Sat 23rd and Sun 24th May 2026
Where: Copley Campsite, St Ives
Times: 10am-4pm each day
Who can attend?
The event is open to all Squirrels and is designed as a day filled of fun activities which can meet the requirements of some of the harder elements of some challenge badges.
What’s happening?
This is a fantastic opportunity for our Squirrels to:
✨ Take part in a variety of fun and engaging activities
✨ Meet new friends from other Dreys
✨ Work towards and tick off badge requirements
🎯 Activities include:
- Soft archery
- Nerf shooting
- Crafts
- Caving
- Inflatables
- …and so much more!
🥪 Please bring a packed lunch
Each day will include a special welcome ceremony to kick things off and a memorable goodbye campfire to end the day together 🔥

Bookings and Payments
- Full payment for places reserved is to reach the County’s bank account within 5 working days of booking.
- BACS details will be on your booking confirmation email from Eventbrite
- Places booked but not paid for in this period, will be reallocated to those on the reserve list.
- A Drey may split attendance over both days (book each ticket type for the number required on each day) but each Squirrel can only attend one date.
- Please do not overbook, as payments made are not refundable unless the event is cancelled by the organiser.
- Bookings close 5.30pm on Friday 15th May, or sooner if all places are filled.

Ratios & Disclosures
- You must have 1 adult to 4 Squirrels plus the leader in charge; plus any others required for specific 1:1 care needs. You are welcome to bring extra adults with you to assist.
- Young Leaders are more than welcome to attend but cannot be used to make the ratio.
- All Lead Volunteers, Team leaders and Team members attending must, at the date of the event:
- be up to date with their Safety and Safeguarding learning, and
- have a valid Scouting disclosures
Frequently Asked Questions
Who should I contact with questions?
Parent Helpers: Do they need a valid scouting disclosure to be able to attend?
They may attend, but MUST NOT be left unsupervised (out of sight, sound or hearing) with children. This is the responsibility of the Leader in Charge of the Drey at the event.
I've booked too many places or need to cancel. Will you adjust the cost or make a refund?
Unless the event is cancelled by the organisers, your Group is liable for the for full fee payment of all spaces booked – even if you subsequently decide to cancel or want to reduce the numbers.
Fees are non-refundable unless all event spaces can be filled and the fees collected from another participant
What does the £16 fee cover?
It includes the event badge and drink refills.
Will drinks and lunch be available for Leaders and Young Leaders?
Drinks will be available for adults and young leaders.
All attendees will need to bring snacks and a packed lunch.
- Refillable drinks bottle: clearly named on the outside, should be full with a non-fizzy drink.
- Snacks and packed lunch in a suitable bag to carry around the site. Everyone needs this.
- Suitable clothing and footwear, depending on the weather!
Where do we check-in on arrival and from what time?
Check in opens at 9am each day.
Please meet all your Squirrels in the car park of One-Leisure Centre, St Ives, before proceeding to the check-in point
Check-in desk will be at the gate of Copley Scout Centre.
Photography & Videography: Will people be taking photography/filming at the event?
Yes, there may be some official scout media people present.
Adults attending with each Drey must know if this means the faces of any Squirrels attending are not to be photographed/videoed by the organisers, and make this known when such images are being taken. The organisers have no control over images taken by others.
