About this course

This is a face-to-face course for Explorer Scout Young Leaders and DoE volunteers – you must be at least 13 and a half to attend, and working towards Young Leader Scheme or Duke of Edinburgh. You must have already completed module A prior to signing up.

This is the full timetable for the weekend: – you can register for individual modules, just the Saturday (08:30-17:30), just the Sunday (09:00-16:00), or the full weekend which includes the option of sleeping over at Copley.

Saturday:

  • 08:30 – 09:00 – arrival
  • 09:00 – 10:00 – Module E – Game on
  • 10:00 – 11:30 – Module B – Taking the Lead
  • 12:30 – 13:30 – Lunch
  • 13:30 – 15:00 – Module F – Making Scouting accessible and inclusive
  • 15:00 – 16:00 – Module I – What did they say?
  • 16:00 – 17:30 – Module D – Understanding Behaviour
  • 18:00 – Dinner
  • 19:00 – 20:00 – Mission Workshop

Sunday:

  • 08:00 – 08:30 – Breakfast for those sleeping overnight
  • 08:30 – 09:00 – arrival for those not staying overnight
  • 09:00 – 10:30 – Module J – Communicate it!
  • 10:30 – 12:00 – Module G – What is a high quality programme?
  • 12:00 – 13:00 – Lunch
  • 13:00 – 14:00 – Mission workshop
  • 14:00 – 15:30 – Module H – Programme Planning
  • 15:30 – 16:00 – Conclusion and awards
  • 16:00 – Home time

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
