Silver Acorn awarded to Bob Pain 50th Cambridge (Milton) Group
Bob Pain, Cub Scout Leader (Cubs Section Team Leader) and Group Treasurer at 50th Cambridge (Milton) Scout Group was recently presented with his Silver Acorn by Chris Ward, County Lead Volunteer. The Silver Acorn award recognises over 20 years’ specially distinguished service and the citation from Lee Mason (District Lead Volunteer) and with George Devine (District Chair) attending.
Lee advised the Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and other adults present from the 50th Scout Group that:
“Bob has been running Cubs for 8,061 days and have been at over 1,100 Cub Meetings. He has held 22 different roles in Scouting and everyone in this room shares a connection with him, with the majority of everyone present having been a ‘Bob Pain Cub Scout’. Every Young Person in this room has had the opportunity to learn, grow and gain confidence because of the countless hours Bob gives up for us. Every adult volunteer present appreciates what you (Bob) do whilst leading from the front as well as the support and admin you do to benefit this group and others locally. I’m really pleased to say you’ve been awarded the Silver Acorn and on a personal note I’d thank you for everything you do. Finally I’d like to share part of the citation for your award.”
- “Bob is an extremely dedicated leader who goes beyond in all aspects of his Scouting. Bob’s leadership of a large Cub Pack and extensive support of the Young Leader programme is one of the main reasons the Pack is so successful. In addition to his main role, Bob has provided support of the highest level to both Cambridge District & 1st Cambridge Scout Group. Quite simply, Scouting locally wouldn’t be as strong without Bob’s time and influence.”
At the same meeting, two of the Groups’ other leaders were given awards: Tom Leavens (Group Lead Volunteer) was awarded the Chief Scout’s 10 Year Service Award and Ollie Robinson (Scouts Section Team Member) the Chief Scout’s 5 Year Service Award.
