Cambridgeshire’s Explorer Camp – Lake District August 2022

Date: 5th Jan 2023 Author: Scout Websites

36 Explorer Scouts and 10 adults from across the County spent a fantastic week at Great Tower Activity Centre in The Lake District during August.

Everyone hill-walked out of their comfort zone with some summiting multiple mountains in one day. On other days the explorers canoed across Windermere, some in scorching sunshine and others in torrential downpours.
Other activities included, gorge walking, tomahawk throwing, backwoods Cooking and climbing.
The Explorers immersed themselves in the activities, formed new long- lasting friendships, and proved to be a credit to their Units, Districts and County. The group of very happy youngsters will keep the memories with them and hopefully go on to enjoy Scouting as adults.

It was a real success.

Here are a few photos from the week:

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
