Cambridgeshire Scouts support the Coronation

Date: 5th May 2023 Author: David Briston

We are incredibly proud that Cambridgeshire Scouts will be supporting so many people visiting London during an historic day serving the nation and helping other people.

Explorer Scout, Henry Fuller, from Fenland District will be attending a special screening of the Coronation at St Margaret’s Church, Westminster. He will be among 50 Explorer Scouts and Leaders that are part of a group of 400 young people representing a range of charitable organisations with a long history of support from the Royal Family.

Cambridgeshire Scout volunteers Alex Burgess, Ellie-Anne Watts, James Metharam, James Traynor, Josh Marshall and Robert Hudson are part of the Scouts team in London. As Scouts we take a promise to do our duty to the King. We are one of four organisations providing stewarding and route lining services, helping people navigate London and enjoy this special day.

Conan Fryer, Ely District is volunteering on the welfare and staff team that supports them. They will spend the weekend at Gilwell Park, hosted by the Scouts at the Coronation Camp.

Best wishes to all involved.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
