Squirrels Activity Days (SquAD) – 2024
Exciting news!
Copley Activity Centre, St Ives, has been booked for a brand new County event for Squirrels.
When? Sat 20th and Sun 21st July 2024.
Who can attend?
The event is open to all Squirrels and is designed to as a day filled of fun activities which can meet the requirements of some of the harder elements of some challenge badges.
What’s happening?
Bring your Drey along for exciting activities which include:
- Pioneered bridge, swing, catapult, and teddy “zip line”
- Inflatable assault course
- Campfire cooking
- Soft Archery
- Soft Tomahawks
- Caving
- Cork Crossbows
- Baden Bear’s adventure
- Obstacle course
- Den Building
It will be a fun day out and will tick off lots of badge requirements.
Spaces are limited to 180 Squirrels per day to ensure the activities work for the numbers on site. Unfortunately, this means that we are unable to accommodate any young people except for the Squirrels and Young Leaders in your Drey.
The required ratio of adults of 1:4 (plus one adult) must attend.
All Leaders attending MUST at the date of the event be up to date with their Safety & Safeguarding training and have a valid scouting disclosure.
Cost: £15 per Squirrel
Bring: your own packed lunch.
Bookings:
- You will be able to book via this page, so keep your eyes peeled. Details are being emailed to everyone as well as putting it on the Cambridgeshire Squirrel Leaders Facebook page, please request to join if you are not already a member.
- All Bookings are on “first-come, first-served” basis, open only to Cambridgeshire Squirrel Dreys.
- Bookings are only accepted where made by Section/Assistant Section Squirrel Leaders/Squirrel Team Leaders.
- A Drey may split a booking over both days (book each ticket type for the numbers required on each day) but each Squirrel can only attend on one of the days.

Frequently Asked Questions
Parent Helpers: Do they need a valid scouting disclosure to be able to attend?
They may attend, but MUST NOT be left unsupervised with children. This is the responsibility of the Leader in Charge of the Drey at the event.
I've booked too many places or need to cancel. Will you adjust the cost or make a refund?
Unless the event is cancelled by the organisers, your Group is liable for the for full fee payment of all spaces booked – even if you subsequently decide to cancel or want to reduce the numbers.
Fees are non-refundable unless all event spaces can be filled and the fees collected from another participant
What does the £15 fee cover?
It includes the event badge and drink refills.
Will drinks and lunch be available for Leaders and Young Leaders?
Drinks will be available for adults and young leaders.
All attendees will need to bring a packed lunch.
Where do we check-in on arrival and from what time?
Check in opens at 8am each day.
Please meet all your Squirrels in the car park of One-Leisure Centre, St Ives, before proceeding to the check-in point
Check-in desk will be at the gate of Copley Scout Centre.
Photography & Videography: Will people be taking photography/filming at the event?
Yes, there may be some official scout media people present.
Adults attending with each Drey must know if this means the faces of any Squirrels attending are not to be photographed/videoed by the organisers, and make this known when such images are being taken. The organisers have no control over images taken by others.
