Equipment and Minibuses

Across Cambridgeshire the various Groups, Units and Districts have a huge range of equipment – everything from benches and catering kit to trailers and minibuses. It is hoped that by sharing information about such resources on here then we can help you all make better use of these assets, whether you are a new Group wanting to borrow some tents for your first camp or a long established Group looking to hire something you can’t afford to buy. This will also hopefully help everyone make funds stretch further, reducing capital outlay and insurance costs as well as reducing the acres of storage space required.

All terms and conditions, including liability, are between the parties involved irrespective of whether usage is free or in exchange for a fee / donation.

If any Cambridgeshire Scout Group, Unit or District has any scouting owned resources that you would like to list on here please Get in Touch, Scout websites – please add appropriate link to separate page) selecting “Communications and Media” on the drop down.

If you are looking for somewhere for a sleepover or a camp in Cambridgeshire then take a look at the scouting premises page

Minibuses and Trailers

When considering use of a minibus it is your responsibility to check that you follow current information.

  • The Scouts and this County does not currently require you to complete a Midas course to be able to drive a minibus but this may be something your Group / Unit / District has decided to apply – so please check. A local provider used by many community groups for MIDAS training is the Fenland Association for Community Transport
  • Information from The Scouts in terms of requirements, permit etc is here
  • The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) have produced a “Minibus Drivers Handbook” which brings everything together into one handy document and is a good place to start.
  • Having read through everything you can check if your licence has a D1 category or apply for a Section 19 permit on-line.

It is also your responsibility to follow current information regarding towing a trailer behind any sort of vehicle.
