Firework events across Cambridgeshire have gone off with a bang, and raised thousands of pounds to help support local scouting. On the 2nd November there were events involving scouting in Ely, Werrington, Whittlesford & Duxford, Willingham and Yaxley. Despite less than perfect firework weather all events were well attended, and if you need another firework fix then why not support scouting in March on the 9th November.

Hopefully such scouting events show in part how amazing our night skies can be. Certainly Scout Ambassador Tim Peake agrees, and has shown that scouting is a great foundation to help young people reach for the stars – in every sense! One of the current astronauts aboard the International Space Station, Andrew Morgan, is also an assistant leader with his local Troop. Did you know that of the 12 people who have ever walked on the moon 11 of them were scouts?

Come and volunteer with Cambridgeshire Scouts – you might not be an astronaut (!) but perhaps you can help us encourage the next generation to reach for the skies, in every sense of the word.

Thank you to scouting supporter Ian Cutting for allowing us to share some of his great photos from the Ely event, with the Cathedral in view.
