Volunteering, #SkillsForLife

On Wed 6th March, from 2pm-6.30pm at Huntingdon Volunteering Fayre, our Growth and Development team were supported by some existing volunteers whilst seeking new members. David Briston, Suzi Kane, Steve Harris, Gerald Browning & Roz Starkey all gave up their time to help out.

Hosted by Huntingdon Library, the volunteering fayre was a huge success seeing many people drop in to visit the copious number of  organisations attending.

This included: Cambridgeshire Police, Wood Green Animal Shelter, Age Uk, Luminus, Huntingdon Community Radio, Cromwell Museum, Cambridgeshire Library Service, Hunts Forum, Medway Centre, Hunts Society for the Blind, Huntingdon Volunteer Centre, Hinchingbrooke Hospital, Bridge Festival, Coroner’s Support, The Scout Association, Cambridgeshire Archives and finally but not least, Adult Learning and Skills.

Visitors were treated to free refreshments and were encouraged to come along and chat about volunteering opportunities in their local area , as well as catch one of the interesting and informative talks.

Our County Team took along display boards, leader/supporters publications and goodie bags. We’re told that they spoke to many people about opportunities within Scouting whilst also networking with the other attending major organisations, to promote Scouting for adults & Young People and see what opportunities lay further afield.

If you’d like to have the Growth & Development team help with advice, resources, workshops or perhaps attend a suitable event (like this one) then please don’t hesitate to Get In Touch.
