Scouting is all about “skills for life” and this video is a great example of just what being a part of the adventure can help young people achieve.

Owen is an Explorer Scout (Young Leader) from Cromwell District, who plays an active leadership role in the 1st Fenstanton and Hilton Scout Group – having joined them aged 6.

He secured a place to attend the World Scout Jamboree as part of Cambridgeshire Scouts contingent, and like all those taking part worked hard over several years to raise over £3,500 each to do so. The funds raised covered the entire trip to America and Canada, training camps, contingent uniform and like all wealthier nations part of the funds raised went to help scouts from less wealthy nations from around the world to take part.

A once in a lifetime experience was had by all and, like all contingent members, Owen is keen to share his experience. He decided to make this brilliant short video so you can see just what it was like. He hopes that it will certainly inspire young members in his own Scout Group, and beyond, to apply to take part in the next World Scout Jamboree – being held in Korea in 2023.

Pervious updates are in these news updates (update 1, update 2, update 3) and the “after” celebration too.
