The Copley Scout Centre in St Ives is a great asset for scouting (and other youth groups) across Cambridgeshire and beyond. There is a team of amazing scouting volunteers who ensure that the site and building are maintained throughout the year. Tasks range from leaf raking and store tidying to tree maintenance and decorating.

The site is adjacent to the River Ouse so is prone to flooding at this time of year, as some of the photos show, which can bring even more work to be completed.

There are members of the “Copley Crew” who are there on a Thursday day time most weeks, getting together and tackling some tasks. Then 4-6 Saturday mornings a year “Work Parties” are advertised where scouting members of all aged,  and their families, are encouraged to help too – with a reward of hot drinks and bacon rolls for their efforts!

If you, or anyone you know, would like to join the Copley Crew team on a Thursday, or the next work party on Saturday 1st February 9am to 12noon, please e-mail cromwelldistrict@gmail.com
