Duke of Edinburgh Training
21st February - 23rd February
A series of 3 training courses related to the Duke of Edinburgh (D of E) Scheme being held at the Copley Scout Centre in St Ives. All are free to members of Cambridgeshire Scouts, and £20 per person per date for Scout Association members from elsewhere. Before attending all attendees must complete the induction e-learning module.
Introduction to the D of E Scheme – Friday 21st Feb (7.30pm to 10.00pm)
Covering the mission and principles of the scheme, and providing an excellent overview of levels, sections and timescales.
Expedition Supervisor Training Course – Saturday 22nd Feb (9.30am to 4.30pm)
Covering the role and tasks of a supervisor, managing risk and providing the best expedition experience possible for all young people.
Expedition Assessor Accreditation – Sunday 23rd Feb (9.30am to 4.30pm)
All D of E qualifying expeditions must be assessed by a D of E accredited expedition assessor. This course prepares assessors for the role, providing an overview of 20 conditions of the expedition element and helping them facilitate young people’s success. In addition to the initial online module (see above) those attending this course must also complete the EEAS pre-course learning before attending, and those wanting to be able to asses Gold level expeditions, or Bronze and Silver expeditions in wild country areas, must also complete this additional e-learning Gold module before attending too.
