Wood Badge Module 12B – Programme Planning

Who this is for: Section volunteers completing a Wood Badge.

What you’ll learnYou’ll learn how to plan and review the programme for your section.  You’ll also learn a variety of methods to generate programme ideas.

Learning Method: YouTube video & online quiz.

YouTube video that must be viewed before the Quiz Check Your Knowledge Quiz

PLEASE NOTE: The video refers to a “Live Session with other leaders” to validate the learning after completing the quiz – this has been replaced with validation with your Training Advisor.

Once you have completed the YouTube video and the Quiz, send an email to training@cambridgeshirescouts.org.uk to let us know so we can issue a completion certificate for you to show to your Training Adviser before you move on to validate the module.

Validation: showing what you know and that you can use it in practice.

To validate this module, you’ll need to discuss the Check your Knowledge questions with your Training Adviser, and complete two of the following:

  • Produce a Programme Plan (minimum one month) which takes into consideration the key themes of the programme, the underlying themes of the programme, a range of programme methods, how young people are involved in the programme planning process, and whether activities relate to badges and awards.
  • Review your programme and produce evidence for how your review has improved the quality of future programmes and the programme planning process.
  • Any other ideas subject to agreement with your Training Adviser.

To demonstrate these actions to your Training Adviser, you can:

  • Invite your Training Adviser to attend and observe a programme planning meeting
  • Get a written or verbal statement from an observer describing a programme planning meeting you have attended or a programme review you have conducted
  • Show written material, such as programme plan and programme review documents
  • Have a discussion with your Training Adviser about taking part in a programme planning meeting, focusing on how you incorporated the elements listed into the programme plan and accompanied by another form of evidence.
  • Have a discussion with your Training Adviser about completing a programme review, focusing on how you improved future programmes using the results of the programme review and accompanied by another form of evidence.

See the Adult Personal File (pages 46 and 47 ) for more examples of how you can demonstrate what you’ve learnt.

You can start other Section Leader training modules before validating this one.
