2007: A New Century Dawns!

In Cambridgeshire, we are promising a 365 day long party which begins on 1st January 2007 when we become a fully coeducational youth movement. This decision to open to girls will formalise what I know has been normal practice for most Scout Groups in Cambridgeshire for a number of years.

The Jamboree is at the heart of the Centenary celebrations and the theme of "One World, One Promise" captures the aspirations and hopes of young people for the future. We are very excited to be sending a Unit of 36 young people to represent Cambridgeshire and participate in this experience of a lifetime.

Finally, I am really looking forward to meeting many of you during 2007 at Centenary events such as Founders Day in February, the National Camping Weekend in May and Scouting's Sunrise on 1st August 2007.

Happy New Year and here's to our new Century

Richard Hames, County Commissioner
