Scouts & Guides for immediate Peace in the Middle East
It is with increasing concern that we see conflict and tension flaring up in the Middle East. World Scouting has many members in Israel, Lebanon and Palestine and we are worried about their safety and that of their families.
When we became a Scout or a Guide we all made a lifelong Promise to 'help other people at all times' and to be a 'friend to all and a sister or brother to every other Scout or Guide'. One of the most important and fundamental principles of our great Movement is to work towards a peaceful world.
Both within the countries now involved, and on the outside, we all have a commitment to try our best to bring peace, understanding and security where there is conflict, misunderstanding and fear. We reach out to all our members, past and present, to do their utmost as Scouts and Guides to bring this misery to a swift end and to rebuild the communities in the region that have already suffered too much.

I’m a Crafts Hill Explorer Scout, Get me onto Holt Island!
Crafts Hill District Scouts has launched the newest section in the Scout movement aimed specifically at young men and women aged 14 to 18 years living in villages across the North, South and West of Cambridge.
More than 25 young people have now joined Crafts Hill Explorers and they were recently introduced to the adventure of Explorer Scouting at the Crafts Hill 24 Hour Survival Exercise on Holt Island, St. Ives.
Explorer Scouts working in teams were challenged to build a raft that would carry them and all their kit to the island without getting wet. Once there they cooked dinner on open fires and built bivouac shelters to sleep out in. n the below freezing temperatures of the weekend. What no tent and below freezing temperatures?
During the 24 hours the new section was officially launched and 25 Scouts were welcomed to Crafts Hill Explorers and invested in the Scout movement.
District Explorer Scout Commissioner, John Easy, said:
“I hope that we can now build on this, expanding our membership and attracting more young people who are keen to try out the many activities and expeditions on offer from our Explorer team”
Crafts Hill Explorers operates in two units, the ‘Wildcats’ based at Hardwick covering the South and West and the ‘Predators’ at Over in the North. Anyone interested in joining or requiring any further information about Explorers in Crafts Hill should contact: Marc Wiseman, Explorer Administrator.
