Teams of 10 to 14 year old girls and boys enjoyed a busy weekend taking part in a range of competitive activities including archery, air-rifles, climbing, high ropes, cyclo cross, canoeing, sailing, raft building and for the first time this year ‘Blood & Gore 911’

This is the fifth year of the County Competition, which sees teams of four take part in seven of the activities on offer over a 24 hour period.

Scout Activities Commissioner, Bob Burnham believes it is the biggest yet with the overall competition, again, being tight this year, with only a handful of points separating the top five.

Bob Burnham continues:

“The weekend was a great success. The 24 hour adventure is a real challenge but it isn’t just about activities for their own sake. We encourage Scouts to try something new, feel the buzz of the achievement and then reflect on what that means.’

Nene Explorer Scouts were overall winners for the weekend and received the shield from County Commissioner, Richard Hames. The picture shows Paul, Cark, David, Richard Hames (County Commissioner) and Chris from the Nene Explorers.

The Nene Explorer Scouts are proud of their achievements during the weekend.

Paul said '24 hours in Mepal was a real adventure and a good test of teamwork. We did well to win as the competition was really tough and it was great fun!'
