PRIZE is 'Everything you want to know about Scouting!'
By Chris Ward - 13th March 2006

More than 200 adult volunteers attended the County PRIZE conference at St Ivo School, St Ives on Sunday 12th March 2006. A day for all to find out what Scouting in Cambridgeshire has to offer and how volunteers can enhance the weekly Scouting adventure in their Groups. The ‘drop in’ format worked well with a continuous flow of Scouting volunteers visiting the conference during the day.

Jackie Daniels, the conference organising team and a cardboard cut out of Peter Duncan (our Chief Scout) were on hand to welcome delegates and guide them through the exhibition.

In the exhibition hall there were many external organisations wanting to work with us including Grafham Water Activity Centre, Mepal Activity Centre, Ramsey Model Aero Club and Millennium Volunteers. If you want contact information for these then get in touch with Jackie Daniels.

The day concluded with presentations including a Millennum Volunteers Award to Chris Gawthrop-Bleet (BSL 14th Cambridge) to recognise 50 hours volunteering under the scheme for 16 to 24 year olds.

Then to the PRIZE draw. Margaret Claydon (ACSL 11th/9th Cambridge) won a colour printer and there were rucksacks for two runners up! Thanks to East Anglia Computer Services for donating the prize and for their support to Cambridgeshire Scouting.

In summing up a very successful day Richard thanked all volunteers for everything they do in Scouting.
