Explorers return from Maltese Adventure
7th August 2008
12 Explorer Scouts from the Phoenix Explorer Unit in south Cambridge have returned home after an amazing 11-day Maltese adventure.
The Unit, who have previously visited Italy and Poland, were looking for a trip with an exciting mix of adventurous, cultural and historical activities, and chose Malta after a special presentation evening earlier in the year.
In their biggest summer expedition ever, the group took advantage of many aquatic activities, including a kayaking trip around the island's coast and scuba diving in the Mediterranean. They also explored the island's rich historical and cultural heritage, culminating with the visit to a local fiesta.
The scouts also mingled with representatives of the Maltese Scout Association. International Commissioner, David Schembri, was full of praise for the Unit;
"They were really the best Scout Association ambassadors possible, and I wish all scouts were like their group."
Tom, an Explorer Scout with the Unit commented;
"A brilliant camp and I can't wait for the next one!"
The Phoenix Explorers are already planning their next international expedition, due to take place in two years time.
