Established in 1979 the Dockland Scout Project (DSP) is located in London Docklands, and is part of Greater London Central Scout County. With the help of the Port of London Authority, and latterly the London Docklands Development Corporation, the Project has been able to set itself up as one of the best voluntary run water activities centres in the country.
The project operates from the Headquarters Training Ship the Lord Amory, and from a boathouse and stores complex on the adjoining lockside, and has access to 120 acres of safe water as well as the tidal reaches of the River Thames. It is completely unique in being a 'Floating Campsite'.
The Dockland Scout Project is to be found on the lockside at the eastern end of the West India and Millwall Dock complex, in the shadow of the Canary Wharf Tower in London Docklands, and a mere 4.5 miles from the City, and 6 miles from the West End.
A fleet of over 100 craft are available from canoes to large offshore craft, and can operate within the dock complex, on the River Thames, and round the south and east coast.
The base is manned by a team of volunteers every weekend in the season from February to November, and rescue cover is available for all the users who visit the base.

The DSP are able to offer RYA and BCU courses, water activities camps, offshore sailing (through the Discovery Sailing Project), overnight accommodation, offshore power and other training facilities. Their services compare well in terms of quality and price - all courses and services are run by qualified leaders who are all volunteers. Courses are shown in their programme and others (e.g. RYA Safety Boat) may be arranged given sufficient notice, numbers and available dates - please enquire about any needs you may.
Many hundreds of UK and Overseas Scouts use DSP each year and are proof to their overall success. Their special atmosphere enables training and fun to go hand in hand.
The Project office is usually manned on a Wednesday evening from 19:30 until 22:00, and at the weekends there are usually crew members on the base who will be able to answer the telephone.
At all other times there is an answering machine in operation.
