Introduction to Explorers

Kernow Bound!

Fenland Explorers are off to KERNOW, homeland of their DESC...

27th July to 3rd August 2013 will see members of the Fenland Explorers heading down to Cornwall to meet up with several thousand other Scouts and Scouters for a fantastic Jamboree...

We would like to offer seats to the rest of the County, currently we have 20 spaces, but may well have availibility for more (to be confirmed in Sept and subject to demand).

The Kernow Jamboree has been away for 15 years, but has been revirtalised and see's the amalgamation of what was Smuggler and The Old Kernow... (You may need to ask some of your older Leaders!)

The vibe in Cornwall is always great and this is sure to be a fantastic Jamboree

Gang Show 80th anniverary

By Ailwyn Racher, Phoenix Explorer Scout Unit, Cambridge

I am one of four cast members from Cambridge Gang show who performed in the Birmingham Hippodrome as part of the 80th anniversary gang show, two leaders and one other explorer. We first heard about the show from our producer in the wake of the hugely successful return of Cambridge gang show after eight years of absence. We were all still in love with the gang show experience and so a chance at another one was a no brainer really. We were quite late on the application so we quickly sent off forms. Late in march we received the first email of many from the production team, with lots of information, most importantly the access to our cast site. As we people came from up and down the country it was only really feasible to have two rehearsal weekends. This meant that we would have to learn most of the dances in our own time, and the words to the many songs.
