Project Meridian

In July and August 2008, teams of Scouts from Cambridgeshire and Harpenden will join Scouts in Hohoe, in the Volta Region of Ghana. Each team will spend four weeks in the country working on the six week project, which is to build a scout hall. This will also become the centre for outreach programmes to help and assist with the development of young African people.
The UK expedition team is made up of Scouts between the age of 15 and 20. Each has been challenged to raise £2500. This will cover the cost of the project and their subsistence whilst in Ghana.
All team members will complete a training programme, designed to prepare them for their experiences in Africa. The training is also designed to develop personal skills, such as public speaking, interactive, communicative and organisational skills.
If you would like to become involved and support the Meridian ‘08 team, there are a number of ways you can help. Please email us to receive more details.
Cambridgeshire Scouts is a registered UK charity, and the participants, including leaders, are volunteers. No individual or organisation will benefit financially from any fundraising.
