Newmarket leaders receive National Awards for their dedication and commitment to Scouting. Eight leaders were the recipients of The Merit Award, this award replaces the Medal of Merit, and is awarded by Headquarters to recognise outstanding commitment, good service and dedication made by individuals to Scouting over a number of years.

Geraldine has also been a member for many years of the appointments committee and is still a member of the District Executive Committee.

DC congratulates all those above and says ‘These well deserved awards mark the outstanding and depth of leadership that we have in the District giving week in, week out commitment and support to the young people who make up our membership. Well done everybody.’
New Assistant Group Scout Leader at Moulton
Steve Robbins has been appointed as Assistant Group Scout Leader at Moulton with specific responsibilities for the liaison and the development of the Beaver, Cub and Scout sections within the group. Steve has been involved with Moulton for some years now, first as a parent then as Executive Committee Chairperson and more recently as ABSL with Hayley Webb when Beavers set up in January last year.
Geraldine, I am pleased to say, will continue as Group Scout Leader until the handover to Steve with the specific responsibility for the Group’s adult member recruitment, executive committee, fundraising and of course Group development in conjunction with Steve. Geraldine as well as her role as GSL for Moulton still remains as District Media Development Manager and a member of the District Executive Committee.
Moulton, under Geraldine’s leadership has grown from a single section Group (Cubs) which at one time only numbered 8 in to a Group now which has all 3 sections and a membership now over 50. I am sure that this will continue to grow and develop and I am sure that you will join me in wishing them both all the success in their roles at Moulton.
