Moving the giant lizard egg Scouts running the 'hot chocolate river' base

Beavers and Cubs from Cromwell District were challenged to work together on a fun day of activities designed to encourage team work and cooperation.

Members of the District Fellowship, Scouts, leaders from other sections and some friends of Scouting provided the challenges including: 'crossing the hot chocolate river' standing only on giant marshmallows; discovering 'whodunit' from the forensic evidence left behind; entering the spiders den via his giant web and returning the Giant Mississippi Lizard egg to it's nest

Following an action packed day of activities the Beavers went home. One Colony leader remarked, 'It was good to have the Beavers and Cubs working together, and to hear the Cubs tell the Beavers how great Cubs are - hopefully that will help transition'

The Cubs remained to set up camp, prepare their own tea and practice some campfire stunts. The evening continued with the campfire and then some more challenges designed to use up the last of their energy before the Cubs finally dropped into their beds

Scout Bank notes Setting up camp

In the morning, after a centrally cooked breakfast, Grand Howl and Cubs Own, Cubs were regrouped to encourage them to make new friends and were introduced to the Trading Post. Continuing with the theme of co-operation and using the currency that had been 'earned' at tent inspection they could buy resources and rent equipment to complete activities, which they could then sell back to the trading post to earn more money. The Cubs worked hard to earn sufficient money to buy their own lunches from the 'Copley Lunch Box' and have a few 'notes to keep as a souvenir'
