Trip report - Big Rock MK, 25 Feb 2017

Climbing fun at the Big Rock Climbing Centre, Milton Keynes.

Scouts, Explorers and Leaders from four Scout Troops and both Explorer Units had such a great time at this 1-1/2 hour introductory climbing session that we just had to book another, so we'll be back in April.

Trip report - Yr Hafod, Snowdonia, 22-14 Oct 2016

Yr Hafod in Snowdonia has become the regular venue for our autumn trip. The accommodation is good and big walks are right on the doorstep, as are top grade scrambles and good climbing. The weather can be a bit finnicky but the views are amazing when the cloud lifts. This trip saw nine Explorers, two Scouts and six Leaders making up three walking parties each summiting hills over 3,000ft high.

Trip report - Glenbrook, Derbyshire, 15-17 July 2016

Glenbrook Guide Centre is a marvellous facility with plenty of comfortable accommodation and open space. It is perfectly situated for easy or adventurous walking straight from the front door, which makes this trip suitable for Scouts of all ages as well as Explorers and adults.  We took great advantage of this over the weekend with the younger Scouts enjoying a reasonably gentle stroll around the area while the Explorer Scouts went for a tougher challenge.

Trip report - Dinas Mawddwy, Snowdonia, 13-15 May 2016

Our base for this weekend was 'Bryn Golau', a cozy hut on the outskirts of Dinas Mawddwy owned by the Solihull Mountaineering Club. Located just inside the Snowdonia National Park at the Southern end of the Aran Fawddwy ridge and withing easy driving distance to Cadair Idris it is in a great position for walking and climbing, although we were not climbing on this trip. You can see more about the cottage here.
